Surah 37
Surah As-Saaffaat
Surah As-Saaffaat (Those drawn up in Ranks) is chapter 37 of the Holy Quran. It is a Meccan surah with 182 verses. Read the full surah below in Arabic with its translation.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
- 37:5
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ ٥
˹He is˺ the Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between, and the Lord of all points of sunrise

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ ٦
Indeed, We have adorned the lowest heaven with the stars for decoration

وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ ٧
and ˹for˺ protection from every rebellious devil

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ ٨
They cannot listen to the highest assembly ˹of angels˺ for they are pelted from every side

دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ ٩
˹fiercely˺ driven away. And they will suffer an everlasting torment

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ ١٠
But whoever manages to stealthily eavesdrop is ˹instantly˺ pursued by a piercing flare

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ ١١
So ask them ˹O Prophet˺, which is harder to create: them or other marvels of Our creation? Indeed, We created them from a sticky clay

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ ١٢
In fact, you are astonished ˹by their denial˺, while they ridicule ˹you˺

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ ١٣
When they are reminded, they are never mindful

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ ١٤
And whenever they see a sign, they make fun of it

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ ١٥
saying, “This is nothing but pure magic

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ١٦
When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, will we really be resurrected

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ ١٩
It will only take one Blast, then at once they will see ˹it all˺

وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ٢٠
They will cry, “Oh, woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!”

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ٢١
˹They will be told,˺ “This is the Day of ˹Final˺ Decision which you used to deny.”

۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ ٢٢
˹Allah will say to the angels,˺ “Gather ˹all˺ the wrongdoers along with their peers, and whatever they used to worship

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٢٣
instead of Allah, then lead them ˹all˺ to the path of Hell
Download or share - 37:24
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ ٢٤
And detain them, for they must be questioned.”
Download or share - 37:25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ ٢٥
˹Then they will be asked,˺ “What is the matter with you that you can no longer help each other?”

بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ ٢٦
In fact, on that Day they will be ˹fully˺ submissive

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ٢٧
They will turn on each other, throwing blame
Download or share - 37:28
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٢٨
The misled will say, “It was you who deluded us away from what is right.”

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ ٢٩
The misleaders will reply, “No! You disbelieved on your own

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَـٰغِينَ ٣٠
We had no authority over you. In fact, you yourselves were a transgressing people

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ ٣١
The decree of our Lord has come to pass against us ˹all˺: we will certainly taste ˹the punishment˺

فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ ٣٢
We caused you to deviate, for we ourselves were deviant.”
Download or share - 37:33
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ ٣٣
Surely on that Day they will ˹all˺ share in the punishment

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ٣٤
That is certainly how We deal with the wicked
Download or share - 37:35
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ٣٥
For whenever it was said to them ˹in the world˺, “There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Allah,” they acted arrogantly

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ ٣٦
and argued, “Should we really abandon our gods for a mad poet?”

بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ٣٧
In fact, he came with the truth, confirming ˹earlier˺ messengers
Download or share - 37:38
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ ٣٨
You will certainly taste the painful torment
Download or share - 37:39
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٣٩
and will only be rewarded for what you used to do
Download or share - 37:45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ ٤٥
A drink ˹of pure wine˺ will be passed around to them from a flowing stream

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ ٤٧
It will neither harm ˹them˺, nor will they be intoxicated by it

وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ ٤٨
And with them will be maidens of modest gaze and gorgeous eyes

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ٥٠
Then they will turn to one another inquisitively
Download or share - 37:51
قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ ٥١
One of them will say, “I once had a companion ˹in the world˺
Download or share - 37:52
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ ٥٢
who used to ask ˹me˺, ‘Do you actually believe ˹in resurrection˺
Download or share - 37:53
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ ٥٣
When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, will we really be brought to judgment?’”

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ٥٤
He will ˹then˺ ask, “Would you care to see ˹his fate˺?”
Download or share - 37:55
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٥٥
Then he ˹and the others˺ will look and spot him in the midst of the Hellfire
Download or share - 37:56
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ ٥٦
He will ˹then˺ say, “By Allah! You nearly ruined me
Download or share - 37:57
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ ٥٧
Had it not been for the grace of my Lord, I ˹too˺ would have certainly been among those brought ˹to Hell˺.”
Download or share - 37:58
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ ٥٨
˹Then he will ask his fellow believers,˺ “Can you imagine that we will never die
Download or share - 37:59
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ ٥٩
except our first death, nor be punished ˹like the others˺?”
Download or share - 37:62
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ٦٢
Is this ˹bliss˺ a better accommodation or the tree of Zaqqûm
Download or share - 37:63
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٦٣
We have surely made it a test for the wrongdoers
Download or share - 37:64
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٦٤
Indeed, it is a tree that grows in the depths of Hell
Download or share - 37:66
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ ٦٦
The evildoers will certainly ˹be left to˺ eat from it, filling up their bellies with it
Download or share - 37:67
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ ٦٧
Then on top of that they will be given a blend of boiling drink
Download or share - 37:68
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٦٨
Then they will ultimately return to ˹their place in˺ Hell
Download or share - 37:69
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ ٦٩
Indeed, they found their forefathers astray
Download or share - 37:71
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٧١
And surely most of the earlier generations had strayed before them
Download or share - 37:72
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ ٧٢
although We had certainly sent warners among them
Download or share - 37:73
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ٧٣
See then what was the end of those who had been warned
Download or share - 37:75
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ ٧٥
Indeed, Noah cried out to Us, and how excellent are We in responding
Download or share - 37:76
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٧٦
We delivered him and his family from the great distress
Download or share - 37:77
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ ٧٧
and made his descendants the sole survivors
Download or share - 37:78
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ٧٨
And We blessed him ˹with honourable mention˺ among later generations
Download or share - 37:79
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٧٩
“Peace be upon Noah among all peoples.”
Download or share - 37:80
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٨٠
Indeed, this is how We reward the good-doers
Download or share - 37:81
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٨١
˹For˺ he was truly one of Our faithful servants
Download or share - 37:83
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٨٣
And indeed, one of those who followed his way was Abraham
Download or share - 37:84
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ ٨٤
˹Remember˺ when he came to his Lord with a pure heart
Download or share - 37:85
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ ٨٥
and said to his father and his people, “What are you worshipping
Download or share - 37:86
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ ٨٦
Is it false gods that you desire instead of Allah
Download or share - 37:87
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٨٧
What then do you expect from the Lord of all worlds?”

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ ٨٨
He later looked up to the stars ˹in contemplation˺
Download or share - 37:91
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ ٩١
Then he ˹stealthily˺ advanced towards their gods, and said ˹mockingly˺, “Will you not eat ˹your offerings˺

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ ٩٣
Then he swiftly turned on them, striking ˹them˺ with his right hand
Download or share - 37:94
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ ٩٤
Later, his people came rushing towards him ˹furiously˺
Download or share - 37:95
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ٩٥
He argued, “How can you worship what you carve ˹with your own hands˺
Download or share - 37:96
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ٩٦
when it is Allah Who created you and whatever you do?”

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٩٧
They said ˹to one another˺, “Build him a furnace and cast him into the blazing fire.”
Download or share - 37:98
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ ٩٨
And so they sought to harm him, but We made them inferior
Download or share - 37:99
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ ٩٩
He later said, “I am leaving ˹in obedience˺ to my Lord. He will guide me
Download or share - 37:101
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍۢ ١٠١
So We gave him good news of a forbearing son
Download or share - 37:102
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ١٠٢
Then when the boy reached the age to work with him, Abraham said, “O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I ˹must˺ sacrifice you. So tell me what you think.” He replied, “O my dear father! Do as you are commanded. Allah willing, you will find me steadfast.”

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ ١٠٣
Then when they submitted ˹to Allah’s Will˺, and Abraham laid him on the side of his forehead ˹for sacrifice˺

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ١٠٥
You have already fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, this is how We reward the good-doers
Download or share - 37:108
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ١٠٨
and blessed Abraham ˹with honourable mention˺ among later generations
Download or share - 37:111
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١١١
He was truly one of Our faithful servants
Download or share - 37:112
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ١١٢
We ˹later˺ gave him good news of Isaac—a prophet, and one of the righteous
Download or share - 37:113
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌۭ وَظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌۭ ١١٣
We blessed him and Isaac as well. Some of their descendants did good, while others clearly wronged themselves

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ١١٤
And We certainly showed favour to Moses and Aaron
Download or share - 37:115
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ١١٥
and delivered them and their people from the great distress
Download or share - 37:116
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ ١١٦
We helped them so it was they who prevailed
Download or share - 37:118
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ ١١٨
and guided them to the Straight Path
Download or share - 37:119
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ١١٩
And We blessed them ˹with honourable mention˺ among later generations
Download or share - 37:121
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ١٢١
Indeed, this is how We reward the good-doers
Download or share - 37:122
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٢٢
They were truly ˹two˺ of Our faithful servants
Download or share - 37:123
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٢٣
And Elias was indeed one of the messengers
Download or share - 37:124
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٢٤
˹Remember˺ when he said to his people, “Will you not fear ˹Allah˺
Download or share - 37:125
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ ١٢٥
Do you call upon ˹the idol of˺ Ba’l and abandon the Best of Creators—
Download or share - 37:126
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٢٦
Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”
Download or share - 37:127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ١٢٧
But they rejected him, so they will certainly be brought ˹for punishment˺
Download or share - 37:129
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ١٢٩
We blessed him ˹with honourable mention˺ among later generations
Download or share - 37:131
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ١٣١
Indeed, this is how We reward the good-doers
Download or share - 37:132
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٣٢
He was truly one of Our faithful servants
Download or share - 37:134
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ١٣٤
˹Remember˺ when We delivered him and all of his family
Download or share - 37:135
إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ ١٣٥
except an old woman, who was one of the doomed
Download or share - 37:137
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ ١٣٧
You ˹Meccans˺ certainly pass by their ruins day
Download or share - 37:139
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٣٩
And Jonah was indeed one of the messengers
Download or share - 37:140
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ ١٤٠
˹Remember˺ when he fled to the overloaded ship
Download or share - 37:141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ ١٤١
Then ˹to save it from sinking,˺ he drew straws ˹with other passengers˺. He lost ˹and was thrown overboard˺
Download or share - 37:142
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ ١٤٢
Then the whale engulfed him while he was blameworthy
Download or share - 37:143
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ ١٤٣
Had he not ˹constantly˺ glorified ˹Allah˺
Download or share - 37:144
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ١٤٤
he would have certainly remained in its belly until the Day of Resurrection

۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌۭ ١٤٥
But We cast him onto the open ˹shore˺, ˹totally˺ worn out
Download or share - 37:146
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةًۭ مِّن يَقْطِينٍۢ ١٤٦
and caused a squash plant to grow over him
Download or share - 37:147
وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ ١٤٧
We ˹later˺ sent him ˹back˺ to ˹his city of˺ at least one hundred thousand people

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ ١٤٨
who then believed ˹in him˺, so We allowed them enjoyment for a while
Download or share - 37:149
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ ١٤٩
Ask them ˹O Prophet˺ if your Lord has daughters, while the pagans ˹prefer to˺ have sons

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ ١٥٠
Or ˹ask them˺ if We created the angels as females right before their eyes

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ ١٥١
Indeed, it is one of their ˹outrageous˺ fabrications to say
Download or share - 37:152
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ١٥٢
“Allah has children.” They are simply liars
Download or share - 37:157
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ١٥٧
Then bring ˹us˺ your scripture, if what you say is true
Download or share - 37:158
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًۭا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ١٥٨
They have also established a ˹marital˺ relationship between Him and the jinn. Yet the jinn ˹themselves˺ know well that such people will certainly be brought ˹for punishment˺

سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ١٥٩
Glorified is Allah far above what they claim
Download or share - 37:161
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ ١٦١
Surely you ˹pagans˺ and whatever ˹idols˺ you worship
Download or share - 37:164
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ ١٦٤
˹The angels respond,˺ “There is not one of us without an assigned station ˹of worship˺
Download or share - 37:165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ ١٦٥
We are indeed the ones lined up in ranks ˹for Allah˺
Download or share - 37:166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ ١٦٦
And we are indeed the ones ˹constantly˺ glorifying ˹His praise˺.”

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٦٨
“If only we had a Reminder like ˹those of˺ earlier peoples
Download or share - 37:169
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ١٦٩
we would have truly been Allah’s devoted servants.”
Download or share - 37:170
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ١٧٠
But ˹now˺ they reject it, so they will soon know
Download or share - 37:171
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٧١
Our Word has already gone forth to Our servants, the messengers
Download or share - 37:173
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ ١٧٣
and that Our forces will certainly prevail
Download or share - 37:174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ ١٧٤
So turn away from the deniers for a while ˹O Prophet˺
Download or share - 37:175
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ ١٧٥
You will see ˹what will happen to˺ them, and they too will see
Download or share - 37:177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ١٧٧
Yet when it descends upon them: how evil will that morning be for those who had been warned

سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ١٨٠
Glorified is your Lord—the Lord of Honour and Power—above what they claim

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ١٨٢
And praise be to Allah—Lord of all worlds
