Surah 99

Surah Az-Zalzalah

Surah Az-Zalzalah (The Earthquake) is chapter 99 of the Holy Quran. It is a Medinan surah with 8 verses. Read the full surah below in Arabic with its translation.

Medinan8 Versesسُورَةُ الزَّلۡزَلَةِ

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Translation
  1. 99:1

    إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ١

    When the earth is shaken ˹in˺ its ultimate quaking

  2. 99:2

    وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ٢

    and when the earth throws out ˹all˺ its contents

  3. 99:3

    وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا لَهَا ٣

    and humanity cries, “What is wrong with it?”—

    يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ٤

    on that Day the earth will recount everything

    بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ٥

    having been inspired by your Lord ˹to do so˺

    يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًۭا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ٦

    On that Day people will proceed in separate groups to be shown ˹the consequences of˺ their deeds

  7. 99:7

    فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًۭا يَرَهُۥ ٧

    So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it

    وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۢ شَرًّۭا يَرَهُۥ ٨

    And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it

Every jamaʿah time in the app was put there by a worshipper — none of it is calculated. That is the only reason a traveller can walk into a masjid in a city they’ve never visited and still know when the iqamah stands.
