Surah 101

Surah Al-Qaaria

Surah Al-Qaaria (The Calamity) is chapter 101 of the Holy Quran. It is a Meccan surah with 11 verses. Read the full surah below in Arabic with its translation.

Meccan11 Versesسُورَةُ القَارِعَةِ

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Translation
  1. 101:1

    ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ١

    The Striking Disaster

  2. 101:2

    مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ٢

    What is the Striking Disaster

  3. 101:3

    وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ٣

    And what will make you realize what the Striking Disaster is

  4. 101:4

    يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ ٤

    ˹It is˺ the Day people will be like scattered moths

    وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ ٥

    and the mountains will be like carded wool

  6. 101:6

    فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٦

    So as for those whose scale is heavy ˹with good deeds˺

  7. 101:7

    فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ ٧

    they will be in a life of bliss

    وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٨

    And as for those whose scale is light

    فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ ٩

    their home will be the abyss

    وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ ١٠

    And what will make you realize what that is

    نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ ١١

    ˹It is˺ a scorching Fire
